FNB58 USB Power Tester

Amazon’s promotional algorithm got me to pull my credit card out of my purse once again.

I saw this USB power tester on sale and immediately clicked the add to cart button.

Thankfully my socks didn’t smell that great because they’ve gone off into orbit.

Okay jokes aside, its a pretty neat little USB power tester.

That’s a lot of digits for a low cost USB widget. The 100 uV and 10 uV are really there just for show. But still for basic validation and troubleshooting of USB power supplies its performance is more than good enough.

There doesn’t appear to be anyway to calibrate the unit so I will have to live with it as is. Though a 900 PPM scale error is forgivable on a low cost USB widget.

It even has a rudimentary oscilloscope to sample bus ripple.

It will also query and trigger USB power delivery profiles

The user manual does a pretty good job of describing the products features

The PC application worked out of the box on my old Win8 laptop, no luck yet on my Win10 desktop (don’t know why).

If you have a specific question feel free to ask.

Happy USB-ing!

Here is a data logger software for this device. It will be interesting to see a teardown of this USB power tester.

You'd make a great salesperson . I developed a need for a USB-C tester, so I followed your lead. I did buy the Bluetooth version even though on Amazon it says that it doesn't support iOS yet. I'll…

Yay! Welcome to the usb power widget club Thanks for the kind words though I give FNIRSI the credit for bringing a neat product to market. I'll be interested to hear how the Bluetooth functionality works…

Surprising 1 star review, but at least it's available in other regions:

Cool little device.  I bought one of these as a late Christmas present for my self along with my TC2- DSO (  Post Christmas shopping find - TC2-DSO review. ).  It was very useful in monitoring the charging on my Iphone 8 (I really need a new battery).

So I didn't know if I was going to end up with a pack of terrible bubblegum or a fancy USB power tester! Searching for "FNB58" should turnup a reseller

    But while testing it out

I thought wouldn't it be great to have one of those baldengineer USB power supply adapters Heart eyes perhaps if the cost is low enough you could add it to the e14 swag kit!

That's really neat! I will have to look into this, thank you for the link!

If I build up enough courage I will try to take it apart. The case is one solid piece

So I guess the internals slide in and out of one of the ends...

The manufacture's PC app works on my old laptop but not yet on my desktop (not sure why yet) but here is what the GUI looks like:

On my laptop it updates with live data...

Does the PC application show the communication packets on the CC lines, when a PD contract is messaged? (Can't open the manual right now because of .cn) So far I only know of the Chargerlab KM003C that can do this. And their display goes down to 6 digits after the decimal point to show those sweet single uV. Joy
