Greetings fellow nerds!
colporteur suggested that I join this site and I am excited to see what it contains, and how I can contribute.
A little about me...
I joke with my friends that I am a double-engineer... Locomotives and Software, but admittedly, my BEng has not been utilized much, and my skills are wanting, for lack of a better word. My professional life has had me working across Canada, from Saint John, New Brunswick to Kamloops, BC and countless communities in between. When I was still wet behind the ears, I started working for a small school district in rural Ontario, where I spent seven years supporting teachers, and students, in both front end hardware and back-end server/software support and development. After a while, though, I found that I preferred technology as a hobby and not so much as a job, so I left the District and pursued a career in the Railway. I've now passed my 12th year riding the rails. It provides me the spending money to continue my hobbies and programming projects, and more importantly, the it gives me the time.
I'm not sure exactly where to begin with e14, but I am eager to dive in and contribute any way I can. I'll undoubtedly have countless questions and I hope not to bombard the bulletin board. In the meantime, I will start with just one question: Where do I begin?
In the meantime, I want to thank the founders for starting this community. I hope that one day I will be able to become a valued contributor! And thanks to all of you, fellow members, for taking the time to read my rant. I look forward to our discussions!
