How do you describe the E14 Community?

A suggestion in this post Alphabetical List of Engineering Essentials Learning Modules (Updated January 14 2024)  regarding new members or re-engaging dormant members piqued my interest. I recently cajoled a personal and professional acquaintance of my to join. We talked over lunch one day about the activities I have been involved in. I also indicated the professional technical responses I get to solve problems. I felt there were some forums he has the skills to excel in.

After reading the above post I thought what would be your elevator pitch for the E14 Community? I started three or four but couldn't settle on a theme. An elevator pitch is a brief (think 30 seconds!) way of introducing yourself, getting across a key point or two, and making a connection with someone. It's called an elevator pitch because it takes roughly the amount of time you'd spend riding an elevator with someone.

My elevator pitch with a really short icebreaker catch phrase: Hi there. I'm Gary. I'm a (select descriptor: stud/nerd/engineer/hipster/jock/goth/whiner/wizard). You look like a (select descriptor: stud…

It is pretty tough to sell someone on the forum if they aren't predisposed to like it. If they have never checked it out, simply informing them that a lot of helpful people who are interested in technology really enjoy the forum and the many things it has to offer is a good start. Some approach like this may be enough to get them to explore it. Once they are here the members will provide further encouragement.

Electronic enthusiasts? I've used the term technology enthusiasts. I agree electronics is the lions share of the knowledge. I started visiting the site not for the electronics. My career path had put my formal training in electronics on the back burner. Participation in the site rekindled that college knowledge fire.

The Siretta RoadTest I participated in /products/roadtest/rv/roadtest_reviews/668/siretta_cellular_sig was more about technology than electronics. I have to think the skills on processes developed in electronic training come into play.

I frame electronics with schematics, components and soldering (missed one wall). I'm thinking I could be involved in IoT and wireless and never pick up that stuff. Dated 2009..maybe time for a refresh. Farnell/Newark does sell technology right:)

On a general perusal, I didn't see an ABOUT link. The one you provided worked but I was playing new person to the site and didn't find it. Can you share a site map?

The about link is at the bottom of each screen. There's also a sitemap link but I'm afraid to click it
