How do you describe the E14 Community?

A suggestion in this post Alphabetical List of Engineering Essentials Learning Modules (Updated January 14 2024)  regarding new members or re-engaging dormant members piqued my interest. I recently cajoled a personal and professional acquaintance of my to join. We talked over lunch one day about the activities I have been involved in. I also indicated the professional technical responses I get to solve problems. I felt there were some forums he has the skills to excel in.

After reading the above post I thought what would be your elevator pitch for the E14 Community? I started three or four but couldn't settle on a theme. An elevator pitch is a brief (think 30 seconds!) way of introducing yourself, getting across a key point or two, and making a connection with someone. It's called an elevator pitch because it takes roughly the amount of time you'd spend riding an elevator with someone.

My elevator pitch with a really short icebreaker catch phrase:

Hi there. I'm Gary. I'm a (select descriptor: stud/nerd/engineer/hipster/jock/goth/whiner/wizard). You look like a (select descriptor: stud/nerd/engineer/hipster/jock/goth/whiner/wizard) too.

You oughta check out E14. It's the happenin' place for edgy hi tech online conversations and learning about new electronic trends.

Judgement call: Sometimes the situation calls for a different approach in some social settings.

Hi there. I'm Gary. I love your shoes.  I really would like to get a pair for my wife. You oughta check out E14. It's the happenin' place for edgy hi tech online conversations and learning about new electronic trends.

I just simplify such things to just "engineering" or "IT" forum!

No-one understands in any detail what the subject is, so trying to explain further is just specialist lingo they can't relate to, whereas they have a small inkling what engineering or IT (or occasionally perhaps electronics) might be about.

For a long time a friend believed I worked with "routers and grouters".

Once a friend asked me why I had so many colors of wire, they wondered if each wire did something different. They didn't assume that fundamentally each wire did exactly the same thing. It's very interesting how people from different backgrounds minds work!

I have no clue, it will be interesting to see how they handle all the existing AI generated and/or influenced content available.
