Adding a 1-sentence professional description in your member profile

If you aren't aware of it, you can edit your profile and provide a professional description.

Your professional description doesn't need to be a whole book! One sentence would do, for my purposes in finding qualified talent for roadtests.

Something simple like the following would do:

"Robotics engineer with 5 years of experience, EE degree, and a great interest in developing products for the medical industry."

This says a lot.

If you have the time, I'd appreciate you updating your profile with a short description.

I encourage our staff and suppliers/manufacturers to do this too, it helps to know who's who!

I just changed it but I have mixed feelings because what I am looking for in element14 is precisely to do things that I have never done in my professional life. I already have enough work in my discipline to dedicate my free time to the same.

Updated, hard to keep it to one sentence, after all, rarely does anyone ask about my background.

You have to look for qualified talent for Road Testing ? Isnt that what top members are for ? :-)

You make a good point. Then what I would personally do is first give a snapshot of your background and then windup with something like "what I am interested in doing is [fill in the blank]. Ex. I am am EE with 20 years experience in the cellular industry, but would like to pursue activities around FPGAs."

Well, I do rely on Top members because they have a breadth of experience. But sometimes a sponsor has a unique request. Recently, they wanted people who DID NOT have a lot of experience because they saw that type as closer to the customers they are expecting. So, it all depends. Yes, putting a lifetime of experience in one sentence is hard. But I just give the 1-sentence example as an easy way to tell me your general background.
