Where does December rank on the busy scale?

dougw

Is December crunch time for you, trying to wrap up the year's activities?

Is December an opportunity to hone your hibernation skills?

Do you taper down in December and take a break?

Do you use the break to launch your own projects?

Does December start out frenetic and end up a party?

Is December for family and projects go on hold?

Do you buy into the whole commercial hype thing, dress up the house and splurge on gifts? Or do you mount a Grinch-worthy protest?

Do you shift out of active mode and just binge watch Star Wars and the Big Bang?

I seem to wind up with a lot of work to do, both  at work and on the home front, and of course lots of family activities, although we have backed off  a bit (imperceptibly?) on the commercial aspects. I do plan to get some reading in - of real books.

December can run from full on crazy to even slightly chill. This year is running in the direction of crazy. We do not do much in the way of parties or socializing, but we do tend to have a lot of projects…

Christmas Eve through to early January is always family, generally visiting different branches of my wife's and my relations.  Rest of the month is generally the same as other months, interrupted by holidays of course.  Having said that, all my projects are personal so always take a back seat in favour of interactions with others which I prioritise higher because I prefer that socialisation.  We don't spend a lot on gifts; for each other we arrange to go away for a few days, catch a theatre show and eat at nice restaurants - memories, not things.  Nieces and nephews prefer a gift of course!!

When I worked December was always hectic.
