HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024

imageI hope everyone around the world had a safe and happy New Year. I have a pic of my hometown, Manhattan. Hey if the picture and the name don't get it.  Well, it's New York City of course.

I was going to break open my bottle of Chandon Brute, which was in the fridge, but what the heck, I settled for a nice light, 4.8%,  German-style beer, made in Texas (Altstadt's Kolsch). Hey, what can I say? I will wait till the 4th of July. So what am I going to do for lunch? I'm going to drive for a great slice of pie, pizza to you. The place is Saborro's from Brooklyn NY.

BTW what's your new project for this year? I have a few one is a new server rack made from 2"x3" it will stand 6 feet and be about 4 feet wide the beast is held together with 5/16" nuts and bolts pics to come! My second is to put back together a Dell Precision Server, it came from a smoker, so it was filthy in the dishwasher with it there will be a blog and a longer v-blog, and last I am working on my King ADF KFS585B. I would have had a blog about it but the DB37 cable from China was bad as it had IDC connects that were crappy and did not work. I might make a blog about this. Who knows.

God Bless Everyone and Give You Peace.  ~~ Cris

Happy New Years Cris.  That's going to be quite the server rack.  I also look forward to seeing how your restoration of the 'smokey' Dell server goes.

BTW The stand I got from Home Depot when they were going to toss it!! It was only supposed to be used on small stuff never wood of that size even my legs which are 2'6" long or the sides which are 6' long there is really no way to hold the stock to drill and the holes cant be drilled at an angle or the shelf will not work. The stick on the right is the jury pole or template for the sides. I will have to make another one for the four corner poles. which will be drilled on the press with an undersized drill bit then I can use my hand drill to redrill with the 5/16 drill.

Definitely looks like a tight space for drilling wood.  I see why you plan to use templates and do some hand drilling.

It's not so popular with government as it once was.

But I'm thinking it should be extended so "makers" (for want of a better collective term) can rent space at low cost maybe about 500 square feet (50 m^2) with electrical services so they can get on with making stuff and have room for their drill presses.

I'm not looking forward to the day when I have to try and squeeze all my stuff into the house !

michaelkellett ha, hey I only less than 1000sq ft, I have two bedrooms and this room is jammed with my two desks and my lab. 2 laser printers, a 6x3 server rack & the double closet is FULL and shelves abound. Luck I moved out of my storage locker when I got one of the few garages here. ( you really can't walk in it. and It's shelved out as well,  you can't even walk in the front as it's full of stuff. and I beat goes on. Oh and lets not forget about the stuff that is in the living room a table with lots of stuff on and under. ~~ Cris

dang74 templates are the way to go the jury pole works like this I use my side one to drill the top hole first. Then I change to the v-template and stick a bolt in the v-template, drill my next hole, move the bolt on the top hole, to the new hole rotate the template rinse, and repeat.. ~~ Cris

Happy New Year. Got a few projects in the pipeline and an upcoming house and hence workshop move. Currently welding a bunch of scrap metal into a welding trolley.
