The world of work is changing fast. To produce graduates that have current and relevant job skills desired by top-notch employers, universities need to update ther EE programs and offer courses that provide new graduates with needed job skills. What job skills are the most important? You tell us by voting in our poll below.

  • Maybe there should be a course in how to efficiently leverage the vast resources available on the internet. And how to effectively stay abreast of important and relevant new technology and new physics.

    Every place I have worked mandated some extra courses. I had one high tech job that required me to spend one day every week learning or taking relevant courses. It was important and relevant since I was expected to contribute in the new field of fiber optics.

    You were lucky.

    I mostly had to do on the job training in my extra hours.

    It might stop you from forgetting useful tools though... the stuff I learned and forgot in five years after leaving college is greater than the stuff I [re]learned and use daily ten years later. And it only took me an hour to learn ten years later. 

    Part of the degree is to show "you are capable of learning and understanding this even if you forgot it" but actually, I passed my university exams parrot fashion. I only understood it later on.
