Seeking Feedback Regarding a Security and Surveillance program for Fall 2024

rscasny
rscasny over 1 year ago

It's only July, but we are planning for the Fall already!

We are considering producing a Security and Surveillance program in a few months. I wanted to get your feedback and interest in such a program.

Now, Security and Surveillance covers many different products and activities.

Taking the broad view, I think they breakdown into:

  • Access Control - physical security, locks, occupancy monitoring.
  • Fire & Safety -- smoke detectors, fire alarms, horns, switches
  • Intrusion Detection - alarms, sensors: PIR, IT, Time of Flight, ultrasonic,
  • Video Surveillance - cameras, camera accessories, monitors

(If you think I missed something, feel free to add it in the comments section below.)

Like I said above, the topic covers a lot. So, I'd like to focus on topics that interest you.

I have two polls below that I'd like you to vote.

Here's an activities poll:

Thanks for participant in this interest survey!

    I'm interested.

I've worked with SIL 2 level project. We've used light curtain as hardware level safety and stm32wba mcu as our safety mcu (pretty much most of the regular stm32 mcu are suitable for safety certification anyways) because of the highest security for an integrated wireless chip it provides. But we need a compiler with FuSa certified as well which will cost a few thousands.

I'm primarily interested in the use of security and surveillance technology for other applications.

I have used CCTV equipment in the past for 24/7 live cam streaming / time-lapse type applications as well as for use in observation rooms for teaching and research.

Also interested in occupancy sensing and motion detection type technology for triggering control systems and monitoring space utilisation rather than for setting off alarms.

I voted for: Device security - (Secure MCUs, MPUs, Safety MCUs, and anything to do with Functional Safety

This one is high on my list too: Secure Authentication with the Internet of Things - (Deep Cover Secure Authenticators, Cryptographic Controller)

I'm definitely interested in that one.

I have quite a few sensors integrated in the home automation setup, along with sirens, custom made keypad, and CCTV cameras hooked to a self hosted Frigate instance to do some feature recognition on the images.

Anything related to those subjects would be nice to look at.

    I'm really interested in this.

I removed the alarm with a monthly fee and installed my own. I have some sensors, I have a camera and I am going to install 4 more. I am also interested in smoke and gas sensors.
