QUESTION OF THE MONTH: Where do you spend most of your work day?

e14 Question of the Month

When it comes to where employees work these days, most news stories (OR hr DEPARTMENTS) reduce it down to two locations: in a company's office space or remotely in an employee's home office. If you are an engineer, you could find yourself performing your day job in many more locations than in your office cubicle or in your home cubbyhole. Where do you spend most of your work day? Vote in the poll below and let's find out where element14 members work (at least 50% of their day).

I spend 8+ hours at a corporate office, but I sometimes spend more than 8 hours after work on hobby electronics.

Being semi-retired, I work from home.  Depending on the demands from the rest of my life (volunteering, Grandparenting, home/garden maintaining, etc.), I spend 3-4 hours a day working with clients or on purely hobby electronics.

I work on my own from a 1000 sq foot factory unit.

About 60% office, lab - insulated and carpeted.

The other 40% workshop with machines and storage, not insulated so gets very cold in winter (but less so recently).

No windows - which is a shame - I keep thinking about making one in the back wall so I can look out at the cows.

I wouldn't like working from home - it's nice to have a change of scenery.

Combined office/storeroom at a college or university. But a lot of work is also happening at home in the evenings/weekends.

I work from a home office 99% of the time. My job, unfortunately, does not involve electronics. Having said that, my home office space is in the same room where I have my workbench with my test equipment! I did not pick that option though, because even when I'm a couple of feet away from it, I don't use it during work hours.

I voted for "workbench with test equipment", but in reality it's a mixture of "corporate office" and "workbench". Also trying to get started with a home lab!

I used to get to spend more time in "the lab" (training bay).  Now I'm chained to a desk most days.  I relish the opportunities to get "hands on".
