ChatGPT designs an Audio Amplifier

It is getting smarter every day, the schematic made me smile.

Could you clarify what type of circuit you'd like? For example:

  1. Type of Circuit: Oscillator, amplifier, power supply, etc.
  2. Specific Components: Op-amp, microcontroller, 555 timer, etc.
  3. Voltage Levels: Supply voltage and expected output.
  4. Purpose: Any specific functionality you'd like to achieve.

Let me know, and I can create a schematic tailored to your needs!

Here’s a simple schematic for a basic audio amplifier using a common operational amplifier like the LM386, which is popular for audio applications:

Components:

  1. IC: LM386
  2. ...
  3. Power Supply: 9V DC

Circuit Description:

  1. Input: Audio signal is fed through a coupling capacitor (C1) to remove any DC component.
  2. ...
  3. Decoupling: A capacitor (C3) filters noise in the power supply.

Would you like me to refine this or provide the actual schematic drawing?

Imaginary numbers can be a useful concept. Imaginary connections - not so much... Confused

    Tried Grok3 with similar results

But! it did create a working spice netlist, so I give it credit for that

I was in college 76-79 and we had to have *programmable* calculators for some classes. All that time learning to use a slip stick wasted.

The problem with ChatGPT is that it can give us the parts list and connection chart, but it cannot give us an automatically generated circuit diagram. I commanded it to draw a very simple Arduino-based circuit diagram, but it could not. The only way is to follow its instructions and make the circuit in proteus and simulate it. Here is an interesting video that shows how to use Chatgpt and kicad together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rf-sYoMxoto

For amplifier projects, it is always better to manufacture a PCB. Special care must be taken to avoid PCB corrosion.

That article on corrosion looks deeply suspect.

In normal indoor conditions pcb corrosion is not  a problem (but maybe you didn't mean to imply that).

It is certainly no more of a problem in amplifier circuits than anywhere else.

The video you linked shows a guy making a determined attempt to get Chat GPT to design some Kicad symbols - and Chat GPT failing to do so !

Eventually the web will be so polluted by bad AI circuits that it will be impossible to find out how to use simple parts like the LM386.

We'll have to go back to data sheets in books or sent by post to be sure we are getting good information.

I suppose I should check, you haven't spent the last 6 months trying to get your LM386 to work, have you ?

    Relaxed
