Seeking Your Opinion About a element14 Image

rscasny 7 months ago

I'm putting something together for the element14 team, which is part of one of our internal planning initiatives.

I'm trying to develop an image that simply describes visually plus a few words what element14 Community is on a people level.

Since I'm not an artist, designer, etc. I tried to put together for rough images.

If you have the time, I'd appreciate you voting or leaving a comment.

Many thanks.

Randall

Here are the images. Scroll down to vote. Thanks.

I like how the scope is plugged into a drawing of the vehicle rather than the vehicle itself...

Perhaps try an image that leans a bit more toward making / prototyping than test & measurement / repair / college course type imagery.

Also as we are mostly an on-line community, then perhaps avoid showing people in the same location together. Perhaps use a montage of 2 or more images to show people working independently in separate environments but on some sort of a common theme.

I like image one but the words for image 2 but drop the word "begun"  (or at least change it as it reads rather awkwardly.)

After re-reading it a couple times, I agree with you. It's a rough draft, not a final. Thanks for the input.

image 1 is the most striking.

In Image 2, the pundits seem to be disinterested / annoyed

Image 4 is not appealing (to me). Dull colours (anno 1978 :) ) camera angle captures the players  top of head and back (no connection), very messy and too buzzy

I voted for Image 1.  Separating the tag lines from the pictures... I'm still undecided on which tag line I like best.  I do not like the picture in Image 3.  It just seems insincere - too much Marketing.  Not enough Engineering / Making / Learning.

Edit:  I'm going with the tag lines for Image 1 or Image 3.  Maybe a melding.  I think "connect" and "collaborate" still speaks to new Engineers.  I could be wrong.

I did get a chuckle out of the desk phone, though.

I appreciate your good comments. I don't do this kind of task very often, so I guess sometimes there's tunnel vision, so to speak, when putting them together. Having another set of eyes on it is really helpful.

    My pick was Image #2.
#1 is just people looking at a circuit. I don't think you need that many people just *looking* at a board. No instruments on sight to perform measurements or diagnostics.

#3 he looks confused and perhaps a bit annoyed. Probably trying to understand his analog scope and whether he set it up correctly (been there). The way he's sitting though is a workplace hazard!

#4 is a bit too cluttered. Lot of instruments with great potential to make an interesting scene but none of them being used.

Now, Image #2 would be a lot better if the scope was ON, which is something I just noticed Face palm

    Like others - image #1.

Any thoughts about using the word 'Explore' in the tag line somewhere?  Maybe just me, but that makes it a bit more intriguing.  "Learn a skill" seems too bland.
