The great thing about the Really Useful Boxes is that they are ! I've been using them (mainly 18L, but other sizes too ) for (at least) 23 years. The pictures show only about 1/3 of them (and that…

If you work bench is primarily for electronic builds and repair, my tip would be to start by defining your power requirements. Construct, assemble, install your setup to provide reliable access to all the power types you will need.

Think about it. You’ll constantly require power. One AC outlet designed to hold two connections but alternating ten connections is a formula for frustration.

Ensure access to the power is convenient to use. Nothing like continually having to move stuff around to get power only increases frustration. Better yet, let’s drag a few extension cords into the mix.

The design should include power cables to make connections. Build or buy solid power connection cables. I suggest a three, minimum. People use cables so often that they break. Intermittent cable or repairing the one and only cable while trying to test is a frustration factor times 10.

Not sure of your power requirement. Sit at a bench and mock up a project or think of repairing something. “I need to plug this into power” typically finds its way into a project. Wouldn’t it be nice if that power were accessible, convenient and reliable?

The image is a quick connect cable I use for bread boarding power. The 2.5 inch barrel connector comes from a power supply. It can be plugged into devices (no need for wall warts) or plugged into the extension cable that has north & south 2.5mm pins for use on a bread board. The pin arrangement allows the cable to lay flat coming from one end of the board, when plugged into either the north or south power rails on bread board. The set of pins pointing up become a convenient connection point to power other devices from that rail.

When connect to bread board I secure the pin end it with some electrical tape to ensure it doesn't escape. I have a few of these cables so they tend to stay with a bread board for future use. Got a 2.5 spacing terminal. The pin end fits nicely into the screw terminal also.

Nice power strip.  I was counting up the power strips in my office and I came up with 1-3' strip with 13 outlets and 6 other strips with 4 to 8 outlets.

It always amuses me when you see an 'award wining' brand new building and from day 1, every office power outlet has a 4-way or 6-way strip attached to it.

A problem with the standard power strips though is that they don't tend to have a wide enough outlet spacing to accommodate the over-sized wall-warts which have been sized based on the spacing of a standard dual-gang UK 13A wall outlet.

I've started using 16A T-connects with a 4-way outlets hung off the end of them
    https://cpc.farnell.com/kes/a82/230v-adaptor-16a-16a-4x13a/dp/PL15623

It allows me the get the exact number of outlets exactly where I need them.

(paraphrasing Adam Savage): "the amount of outlets you need is N plus one, where N is the number of outlets you currently have"

    I've got you covered...

Just pop one of these onto the free end of the T-Connect

You do realize that once you pop that in the current number of outlets has increased, thus you need another one.

I've never seen these beasts. Is this for above ground cabling like a concert venue or stage setup?

Yes, indeed. PCE do a black range of connectors specifically aimed at stage use so as not to stand out.

You can also buy the T-connect with cable entry without the power strip:

    https://cpc.farnell.com/pce/94325000/t-connect-1-in-1-out/dp/PL15612

and wire it to what you need.

You can also get this style:
