Are you using AI?

Alanta Lee
Alanta Lee 2 months ago

Hi everyone,

This is the first time i've ventured out of my 'Research Opportunities' area so, hello Wave

I'm curious to hear how people in the element14 community are using AI tools in everyday life, whether that’s at work, at home, while learning, or just experimenting.

A few prompts to get things going:

  • What do you mainly use AI for?
  • Has AI changed how you work or solve problems?
  • What do you find most useful about AI?
  • What still feels frustrating, risky, or unclear?
  • Are there any AI tools or use cases you think are especially useful?

Feel free to answer one question or all of them!

Thanks!

AI — especially modern LLMs — can be extremely effective for software and firmware development. In many situations, tasks that normally take significant time can be solved much faster. It’s also clear that AI often approaches problems in a fundamentally different way than the human mind, which means any solution integrated into a project must always be fully reviewed, validated, and traceable.

That traceability is an interesting one. How to do it? Keep the prompts? Keep the full human-AI conversation with intermediate code? Store the model that was used at the time of development?

For the other ones: can I review and validate AI generated code with the help of AI?

Those are questions I ask myself Slight smile

Yes, I always save the conversation and adding comments. Sometimes longer comments.

Otherwise, AI is thinking differently. I was surprised many times how effective the generated code can be. But I never use a generated code what I don't understand. That's why the saved conversation.

AI can review it's own code.I used it several times for firmware and GUI. It finds the potential issues and suggests improvements. Also can help in debug complex firmware stacks.

That's quite weierd. Is it the future in the present?!
