I am in the process of watching Run Away on Netflix. It is set in the UK and filmed there as well. I am not sure what specific region though. Anyway while the shots of the country side are beautiful and green they seem less green than I remember from previous trips I've taken to England... so a question for those in the UK... with the recent rise in temperatures during the last few summers are things less green now? Or am I remembering things through 'emerald green' tinted glasses?

It can depend on the water table, the sun and the heat have turned my driveway into greenery thanks to the prevalent weeds growing between the cracks in the paving.

It can depend on the water table, the sun and the heat have turned my driveway into greenery thanks to the prevalent weeds growing between the cracks in the paving.
I suspect that the paving will likely slow down the rate of evaporation from the soil below but the weed roots will be able to extend under the paving and access the moisture.
Likewise, plants with deeper roots will likely be able to last longer than those with shallower surface spreading roots.
The next heatwave is underway here, so trying to keep the garden alive with the watering can, without wasting too much water in the process. The 'drumstick' Alliums have just come into flower and the bumblebees are relying on them.
