Farnell EU shopping policy changes

It looks like there is a change related to the EU VAT Ordering. This means that from 1 July 2026 due to those EU regulations, you cannot create an order as a private customer without a valid EU vat number.

  • That's extremely bad. Hope they may resolve this quickly.. how are startups going to work, plus, even some long-established businesses may not have a VAT number.

    Agree with you. But this has been an issue in India as well. Where you need GST number to order from Element14. This is not implemented by element14 alone, but this is the government norm. So they have to follow. 

    But this is not good news for small startups and/or individuals who are maker, hobbyist, etc.

    I don't think that its a government norm. element14 does B2B (business to business) transactions in India. Nobody is stopping them to do B2C. Robu, mouser, Digikey and other local vendors have no issues serving non GST customers in India.

     Could be that element14 chose to do that and I have no idea about Mouser or Digikey. But there are companies with whom this is an issue. For example, there is a company called Millenium Semiconductor, and I wanted to buy some Dev. kit and that was not possible. Also, if you want to get for example, NB-IoT SIM card in India. It's very difficult without GST. While in other countries it is not that difficult. So, there is something that needs to be taken care of when it comes to things like this. !
