Hello everyone! I am excited to be here and getting to know you all a little better. I am a complete newbie to electronics but usually a quick learner. If you have any words of wisdom for me then I am all ears.
Thanks Dab. Looks of info here and seems very active and friendly. I am starting slow, small steps and will keep learning.
Hi Andrew,
Welcome to Element14, it's a great place to find people with similar interests in tech, there's lots of different people with loads of experience and there's usually somebody on hand with some helpful advice when you need it.
Tell us a little about you, what your interests are, and if you've got an idea for a project you are planning then feel free to tell us all about it!
Best Regards,
Rachael
Hi Racheal thanks! My background has been in ecommerce management. I went back to college to study fundamentals in web development and game design.
I've always wanted to learn electronics and now is as good a time to start as any. I'm right at the start of my journey but I have a few things I would love to be able to learn and build. As I have an interest in computers, I would love to know how to make an 8 or 16bit computer that could play something like the original sega cartridges.
I am am a long way from this but all that means is that I have plenty to learn.
Hi Andrew,
Since you are interested in computers you should take a look at the Arduino or the Rasberry Pi. They are good places to start and will give you an organized approach to some simple electronics and circuits. I think the Arduino is a more basic start while the Rasberry Pi is more media centered.
John
Welcome!
Have a look around, Design Challenges are a great way to dive into projects with a particular theme and learn lots, along with other competitors. You get the kit for free, and if you pull through, you might even win some great prizes!
Hey Andrew, welcome. My tip would be to go up for one of the Project14 challeges. One of last month's winner had a circuit with about 5 components and the others were also novices. It's a great oppertunity to make something and get tips as you go along.
Oh wow this sounds amazing! I must look into this!
