A quick sketch showing how to possibly extend Theremin antenna leads with reduced capacitance problems.
The Theory:
Extending the length of wire connecting to the "antenna's" adds capacitance to these "antenna's" - Remember - A Theremin "antenna" is actually one plate of a capacitor - it is a capacitance sensor, and use of the term "antenna" is misleading.. When an equalizing coil is fitted, this coil can dramatically alter the sensitivity.. The end of the coil connected to the circuit is usually FAR less sensitive to capacitance than the end connected to the antenna.. Therefore, extending the wire which connects the circuit (oscillator) to the coil generally makes the capacitance of this extended wire far less significant.
Application:
The most usual, and useful application for this modification, is when one needs to change the orientation of the antennas to facilitate left-hand playing of the pitch antenna, and right hand playing of the volume antenna.
