Also note that some of the poor video quality is actually due to panning too fast and will happen even on high end professional equipment. Rule of thumb when shooting at 24fps is around 7seconds minimum to pan across the viewfinder frame. For a standard lens this can typically mean around 20-30s just to pan through 90degrees whereas most people will attempt to do it in 5 or less. For telephoto lenses you can be looking at _much_ longer durations. If you are tracking a person or object in frame then you can often get away with faster as the viewer's eye is distracted, but for scenic shots then the strobing etc. artefacts will become very noticeable.

    looks good.

If you come up with a really smooth motor and rotation you will have great demand for the device. Most pan-tilt mechanisms vibrate and shake far more than the size of the pixels in the sensor, and it causes blurring and loss of detail in the video. It also generates audio noise, which is annoying.

    Hello Joey,

not it is not a gimbal but a real pan/tilt mechanism. As a matter of fact I have already evolved the prototype and really soon (now it is late respect the date of this project, but not always it is possible to follow the desired timeline) I will publish other articles on this project. I will notify here the link of the next updated articles.

Is this a gimbal (auto level) just a way to remotely control a camera?

Interested, I am working on a single axis gimbal now using an arduino.

I know I know a psoc is better but I have a few pro minis left to use up!
