I had seriously intented on making this blog a series of articles about eddy-current displacement measurement, however, changes in my company have interfered. We regularly get a new set of senior managment every 2 ot 3 years, so it's like starting the circus all over again.
Nevertheless, this time I was moved from the measurement division to fuzing. I now know how a baseball player feels. I got literally traded from one division to another for another engineer. Luckily I wasn't the 'player to be named later'. After 35 years of making sure that things don't blow up, I now have to make sure that they blow up on demand. Rather than dealing with nanovolts of noise, now I look for devices that can switch 1000 volts in 100 nsec into a 5 milliohm load.
