Technology evangelist Carlos Dominguez of Cisco is an electrical engineering graduate from the University of P.R., Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
A prominent thought leader of the IT world, Dominguez is an expert in cloud computing, big data, mobility, and so on.
A versatile person, he is renowned for his addresses on topics, such as the Internet of Everything and the Road Ahead New World; New Rules: Thriving in a Hyper-Connected World; Leading in an Exponential World; Driving Innovation through the Collective Intelligence of the Crowd- Building an Adaptable Organization; and How Not to Become Obsolete – Lessons from a TechNOWist.
He has been associated with the world’s largest networking company since 1992. Before joining Cisco, he was served in managerial positions in Timeplex and Bell Atlanticom, both in New Jersey.
Prior to being the Senior Vice President in Office of the Cisco Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, he was the Senior Vice President of Office of the President.
The period of 2004-2008 saw him serve as Senior Vice President of Cisco’s Worldwide Service Provider Operations.
In this role, he handled the sales operations and segment strategy of the company globally concentrating on the telecom and communications markets.
He also was the Senior Vice President for US Service Providers Sales of Cisco focusing on the Cable, ILEC/RBOC, the IXC Markets, and Emerging Carriers.
He also credited with increasing revenues of the company in both these recent roles to $11.4 billion from $500 million.
Dominguez, in 2006, figured among the top 50 Hispanic Executives in the US compiled by the Hispanic Engineering & Information Technology magazine.
Presently, he leads a team comprising more than 1200 persons.
On the humanitarian side, he is known for his commitment to education and child-related issues.
