A Small Simple Robot Arm : Part 1 Mechanical Construction

I was impressed with the MeArm self-build small robot arm since I first encountered in quite a few years ago now. So much so that I had a simpler version designed for me when I was at the University which was only 3 degrees of freedom version and could be made within a 4 hour laboratory timetabled for first year engineering students. Over a few years the students made hundreds of these:

but I always wanted my own proper four degree of freedom version. I was unwilling to pay the price being asked for the official MeArm kits but when I saw this clone version at not much more than £13 I decided to buy one for myself as a Christmas present. As I've nnow played with most of my other Christmas presents I decided that now was the time to make the small robot arm kit and here it is:

All I need to do now is write some code for an Arduino and make it all work.

Neil, Thanks for letting me know about this. I like my previous one so much that I am going to order another one. This robot arm might well be a good thing to control from a Pico - should I be able to…

It was on Amazon but I have recently noticed that they no longer have any in stock. I would just keep looking and eventually someone else will put some up for sale.

I'm adding it to my to-do list; may be a nice application for the pico - if I get all working!!!!

    Neil,

Thanks for letting me know about this. I like my previous one so much that I am going  to order another one. This robot arm might well be a good thing to control from a Pico - should I be able to get a Pico sometime. And, if controlling one robot arm from a Pico is good, then it would be even better to control two of them.
