Connection Refused Error Resolved
Due to other commitments and being sick I am now in full swing. I struggled for a couple of days when trying to access the Fhem website using http://<Raspberry IP> :8083/fhem. I received "Connection Refused". I tried IE , Chrome and Firefox but received the same error. I thought well maybe this is an issue with my laptop and Windows 8.1 firewall. Set up incoming and outgoing rules to allow access to Port 8083. Tested but still received "Connection Refused" I set up a static IP address by installing sudo apt-get install wicd-curse. Scanned my networks with sudo wicd-curses and set up a Static IP. Maybe there was a clash of the IPs on the PI and my laptop. Also while I was there set up a WIFI connection. Nope still received "Connection Refused" . I turned off the Firewall and still received the error message. Quickly turned my Firewall back on and turned my attention to the Raspberry Pi hardware setup. I can ping the Raspberry Pi from my laptop. I have an inventory of SD cards from other projects. I was using a Kinston SD card so switched to Scandisk SD. I formatted the card and loaded the OS again. I went through the whole install again and guess what ! It worked Now I can load the Fhem page on my laptop and my Playbook. I don't have a smart phone but would probably work too.
Testing Sensors To-morrow !
