Well, I am somewhat proud of myself for finally reading and working thru the MPLAB IDE Quick Start for version 8.80.00.   Hey, it has only been a year!  Where did the time go?  Recently placed order for a couple of samples from Microchip to possibly build The 'One Chip Spinning RGB POV Display' with conversion software.  And purchased some PIC chips from Tayda.  Wish me luck in continuing to get up to speed with the PICKit 2 programmer.  I am wondering how long it will be before I feel the need to buy the hardware debugging module.

    Thanks.  I am happy to share what I have learned so far.  This was kind of a gotcha pitfall imho.  There are two ways to declare uninitallized variables in .asm source file. 

        CBLOCK    0x000   EXAMPLE   ;example of a variable in access RAM   ENDC

     

        MYUDATA UDATA

       COUNT    RES 1

     

    In MPLAB 8.800, the varables declared in CBLOCK are NOT viewable in the WATCH box when stepping thru the execution of the code in the emulator.
