I've just been playing with Chua's circuit, using a couple of op amps for the negative resistance element.

It makes for some pretty XY plots on the oscilloscope. Thought you might like to see them.

It's very finicky getting the values right and you can see from the bottom trace that it's not very stable, but it's good fun to play with.

    Complex circuit interactions can yield some very entertaining video and artistic renderings. DAB

    Why did I write that? It's supposed to be chaotic.

     

    The first trace (the nice spiral) is with the supplies down at just plus and minus 5V. There the op amp inputs and outputs are so constrained that it biases the righthand attractor to the centre and the other one doesn't exist, instead it bounces off the limit to the left (which is why the spiral is so orderly).

     

    I thought this circuit wouldn't simulate very well, but TINA-TI does do a reasonable job with it. Here it is with the waveforms displayed XY in the simulator's virtual oscilloscope.
