Cross-Platform Apps for the Multicomp Pro PC USB Oscilloscope

Earlier this year I received the Multicomp Pro MP720016 as part of my Honorable Mention prize

Winners Announcement of the "Experimenting with Vibration Sensors" Design Challenge

It was great to receive a PC Oscilloscope as it means I have a portable lab bench in my backpack!

To setup, I read through the roadtest reviews to set up my oscilloscope. Unfortunately I found out that the official tool is a Windows-only software.

Cool Tools: Multicomp Pro PC USB Oscilloscope

But not too long ago, I found out that there exists a cross platform app, created by Github user "florentbr". It is based on the Owon VDS1022 which is a compatible family to the Multicomp Pro MP720016.

https://github.com/florentbr/OWON-VDS1022

It is very simple to install on my Ubuntu laptop, which is what I am using for my university work. Just run these commands to clone the github repo and run the install script.

git clone https://github.com/florentbr/OWON-VDS1022

cd OWON-VDS1022

sudo bash install-linux.sh

Launch the app with this icon

And you will get this interface

It also has a Mac version, so I tried it out on another Mac machine

I hope this helps those who are uncertain whether to to buy this.

Nice work. This should increase the flexibility of this scope so you can use it in more places and hopefully get more use out of your cool little scope.
