So, my customer wants me to write an iPhone app for their industrial control system.
Well, thats no problem, I'm a registered iPhone developer with published apps.
Trouble is, the customer wants it to appear in the App Store under their own name, but also wants me to 'handle the whole thing'.
Well, the way the app store works this isn't going to happen. For it to appear under their own name as publisher they are going to have to join apple's ADC, enroll in the iPhone developers program, pay an annual fee, sign a bunch of contracts and provide details of their bank accounts. Then they're going to need a Mac to generate their own distribution certificate which their app needs to be signed with. Then they need to set up a 'team' in the developer portal and add me as a developer member.
The customer doesn't have a mac, and doesn't wish to be enrolled in any developer programs - they are a hardware company after all.
But hey, that's just the way it works if you want to publish apps for the world's #1 smartphone.
