Did Newark serve me a slice of bamboozle Pie?

I was excited to see Newark list approximately 2000 units of the Pi Pico in stock yesterday!!!

 

I immediately jumped at the opportunity to pick up a few of the new on the block $4 development boards. Yay!!!

 

When I placed my order, the Pi Pico was listed in stock:

Taking a peek at my order status this morning:

Expected ship date of Aug 23, 2021... Time will tell.

 

While I can't fault Newark for not being able to source enough units to meet the present market demand. I will be disheartened if they are unable to accurately allocate stock to customers.

 

Fingers crossed, I will end up with a Pi Pico in the coming days image.

    Still not sure what will happen, Newark keeps updating the expected ship date day by day, now expected 25/08/21. This may be a no soup for you story from Newark.

     

    I just put in an order from one of the Raspberry Pi foundation approved Canadian resellers: BuyAPi.ca. Hopefully it won't be another it's "In Stock" bait and switch.

     

    I wonder how many units have made to the into the hands of customers. I see articles stating the purchase orders for the Pi Pico are totaling near a million... Exciting times image

    Not to make you feel bad, but I’ve had a back ordered item with Farnell since last June.  Latest update was that it would be available in April, but I haven’t heard a peep.  This was an item from a shopping cart that I won, so it’s hard to complain.

     

    It’s interesting to see which items get sold out.  In a lot of cases I find that they get bought up by distributors and you can find them in distribution.  I got my RPi Picos from SparkFun when they first came out.

     

    I find for Dev boards that I have better luck with Digikey and Mouser than Newark.  I just got a Nano RP2040 Connect from the Arduino US store in Pennsylvania and they are now out of stock - but I still see them at distributors...
