I find it interesting how primitive we become in the this world of modernization.
There is a factory that tracks its productivity by counting the number of pieces at various stages of there process. This system has been in use and established over the last couple years. This is very common and most of us are accustomed to it. What amazes me, is that when the productivity is down the production colleagues call the reliablility of the counting system and associated sensors into question. At which point an engineer is dispatched with a manual counter and a stop watch, to verify the system. The system had been running the same product for the last several hours and the engineer finds that the system is working perfectly. I thought the purpose of an automatic system is to remove the engineer from the menial task of manual counting pieces allowing him to do more productive work.
