Electromagnate and ReMade: Hello world!

Hello,

My name is Jim Burke, and Electromagnate is myself, Jordan Bunker, Christopher Bodel, Kadi Sistak, and Madelynn Martiniere. We formed Electromagnate to create a documentary about the Maker Movement and the rapid expansion it is experiencing in recent years. We ourselves are makers, friends, and members of several hackerspaces such as Pumping Station: One, Workshop 88 and Creative Contraption.

Over the coming year, we'll be blogging about our travel experiences, as well as creating a series of tutorials which will cover some of the various equipment we've created to film our documentary, ReMade: The Rebirth of the Maker Movement. Expect a range of projects both simple and complex, as well as on-the-road updates about the places and people we visit.

In the first installment of our ultra-minimalist DIY equipment series, Electromagnate's Christopher demonstrates how to mount any smartphone to any 1/4" 20 tripod head with just two parts and a handful of cheap stuff found at any local hardware store.
