Meralco is launching SmartGrid in 2013. The technology provider in this launch is SLS.
Paresh Patel, CEO-SLS, says, the system will enable the consumer to save between 10% to 20% in electricty costs.
Meralco says, For our higher end residential customers, Meralco can offer home area networks that allow them to monitor and switch on or off their appliances remotely through their phones or tablets. We envision a future where there will be an energy management application in the home area networks that will enable and empower customers to optimize their energy usage.
eCommander is going to be a major component in this launch. eCommander is a residential energy management controller that allows the users to control the appliances using the touch screen devices as well as their phones and tablets! Users can also view and monitor the energy usage for individual appliances as well as track the collective energy usage and view their energy consumption patterns and predictions based on their use. The users can also set targets for energy consumption.
The device is going to be a fun to use device with the availability of various applications and the capability to add more applications like photo viewer, twitter and others in future.
