After looking around at the projects I could get started in, I am settling on one (or two) projects that are inexpensive and allow me to get my feet wet in electronics and assembly.
The first project will be to work with the ESP32 micro-controller board. After acquiring one, I see that not all of them are the same and some will require additional connectivity for me to be able to work with it (some sort of serial board).
I also see that there are various programming environments: Mongoose OS, MicroPython, NuttX, Ardurino IDE, Zephyr, Mbed TLS that can be used to program it.
So now I've ordered one that has a USB port (which should be coming in the mail today) as well as a few parts that I may need to successfully do some projects.
Let's see what today brings...
