Philo Taylor Farnsworth born today (19th August) 1906 was an American pioneer in the invention television. He was crucial in the development of an early all-electonic TV, but he is considered best known for inventing the first video camera tube, a fully functional electronic image pick up device, as well as the 'image dissector' a complete electronic TV system. Farnsworth was also the first person to demonstrate the device to the general public.
