It was great to receive a parcel this afternoon from Element14, which I think is for being Influencer of the Year 2019, or maybe E14 is just being nice to me. A nice XXL T shirt as well as an Element14 Breadboard module (some assembly required. Just a little problem with the breadboard in that two of the rubber feet had lost their stickiness so I had to resort to using glue - seems to have worked. I might now try and add a small voltmeter and rechargeablel battery to make a self-contained mobile development module. On first inspection I haven't been able to find any suitable voltmeters so I might have to create something myself.

I think that parcel was for scoring 100% in the MEMS Sensor Technology Quiz. I received similar today (I ended up gaining two sticky feet though, thanks to a burst radiator valve in the office soaking…

I have a package on the way which I assume will be the same. Anyone who's into racing will know Castle Donnington. I specifically remember a very hairy moment on a Yamaha YZF750 when I didn't realise that…

    Clem,

I was originally from a very strange part of the UK, which even many people who live in the UK do not know exists. Many people know of the North of England where it is cold, wet and windy with very few trees (I know, I lived there for a few brief months of cold and shiveryness) and the South of England where the sun always shines, there are green rolling hills,, the wind hardly ever blows, the sky is blue and there are many trees (guess where I live now). In between is a little known area called the Midlands, specifically the West Midlands. It is quite a large area but unless you've lived there (I was born there, in a little village called Castle Donington - yes, at one point it actually had a castle) most people are unaware of it's existence, and that is where my accent is from. You may have heard of Robin Hood, well he came from the Midlands.

Although I have not lived in the Midlands for nearly fifty years I have not lost all my accent. Having said that I do not think I actually have an accent, it is everyone else who is not from the Midlands who has the accent. Sometimes when I hear people from the Midlands (but not Birmingham) on the TV I do think 'How clearly that person is speaking and how easy it is to understand them'. Sometimes, when I hear myself on a Blog I do wonder where that accent comes from as it is not there when I am speaking!
