Going back to school

Ok so for reasons out of my control (illness) I've been disabled for many years now, but still a functioning human being who loves to learn. Anyways, for a while I had considered going back to school (probably online) just to keep my mind busy and not go crazy. I had applied with the Department of Rehabilitative Services (which will help me go back to school) a long time ago and have been on a wait list for a long time. Well today I got a letter in the mail saying that my wait is finally over (I had actually forgotten about it) and that I am now out of the waiting period and needed to call to set up an appointment. Well after calling and setting up an appointment I realized that I have no idea what exactly to go to school for. I love fixing electronics, and have been teaching myself programming for awhile now and love that too. Sadly, I really just don't know what I should be looking at doing as far as school goes. Any suggestions out there, or maybe just a good shove in the right direction. I have always spent my time programming for things like Arduino and Raspberry pi type stuff and have never touched web development, but am always up for new things. Anybody got any good ideas??

never too old to learn .... well the learning isn't the issue, it's the remembering... so you're still ahead of some of us. When we went into schools and asked if anyone had done any software programming…

Thank you all very much, All of the suggestions sound like fun (like to learn anything and everything I can), but I think Mr. Wong probably is on the right track. I love both the hardware and the software…

If you look for a program that includes embedded programming and interfacing, it expands your capabilities to have fun with both hardware and software projects.

I'm glad I found it. I always enjoyed learning and learning new things. And I'm glad that nowadays online learning is available, which gives everyone the opportunity to get an education. I am a student and we are often given written assignments, and usually they were not difficult for me. The only thing I really had problems with was writing a professional personal statement, but I managed to cope with that. I found qualified help and were able to write the best qualified statement for me in a short time.

Congratulations. I hope you enjoy the course and find it useful. Obviously, if there's anything you're having difficulty with there are people here who will be happy to help if they can. I'm sure you'll find it OK though.

So  I forgot to update on this going back to school so here it goes. I have had my first meeting with the rehabilitative services and went over and had a meeting with the college, looks like I will be going for a B.S. in Computer Science. The math worries me some but have been studying everything that I can get ahold of on the coursework so that I will feel a little more like I have a beginning grasp on everything as I go into it. The program will include both object oriented and web design so that seemed like it will be up my alley so to speak, and have really been looking into the web design too and finding it just as interesting. The thing that worries me the most right now is that it is a two hour drive over to the college, so gonna be racking in a lot of miles. Anyways, thank you everybody for the input and the push in the right direction.

Thank you all very much, All of the suggestions sound like fun (like to learn anything and everything I can), but I think Mr. Wong probably is on the right track. I love both the hardware and the software side of computing and don't want to lose out on one for the other. Other than that I was also looking at the application software development because I think I would prefer that over systems development, of course I could just have that all backwards being as I love the hardware side as well. Anyways, thank you all very much as this is giving me a more focused approach to research before I go for my meeting.
