I am getting a Panic code on boot up.

I had my Pi system off for a while and moved it to a different work space and when I tried to boot up I get:
Panic:VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(179,8).
From what I have read this is an error while loading some file in the boot procedure.
I am using Rasbian a Debian Wheezy port, optimized for Raspberry Pi.
I would like if I can replace the one file that seems to be corrupt, and what file that is on the SD card.

Thanks I generally do a controlled shutdown but perhaps did not one time.

Most likely you may have had a power pulled without a good shutdown. Please try to always do a "sudo shutdown - h now" command if possible.

It has almost always happened at unclean shut downs. Sometimes, when booting even if power is taken off, it gets corrupted. You have a software error created by bad block data. I can give you two ways out. The simple to rebuild the card from scratch. This means loosing all data. It requires the master boot record be rewritten as a new single partition and reinstall software. The second may recover your data but is more like brain surgery on the card.
