My family (3 parents, 6 siblings, 2 sons & 1 daughter-in-law) supported my hobby (addiction?) this year by giving me Amazon or eBay gift certificates. I turned those into the following, which I hope to report on in the coming months:
- DE0-Nano - Altera Cyclone IV FPGA starter board
- Adafruit RGB Positive 16x2 Lcd+keypad Kit for Raspberry Pi
- Si4707 Weather Band Receiver Breakout
- FM Radio Receiver Module -- Arduino Compatible
- Breakout Board for Si4703 FM Tuner
- USB IR Toy
Each of the above has either a micro-USB or breadboard interface. The LCD kit requires a sizeable amount of soldering so it'll probably be last. I'd love to start playing with the FPGA but, since class starts in a week, I may have to put it off until later in the year. I'm also trying to get a book finished, a couple more web sites online, and (most importantly) get the honey-do list whittled down a bit (there's a lot of painting in my future).
Just in case any of the family is watching, remaining on my wish list are:
- SainSmart Expansion Board for Raspberry PI
- Raspberry Pi to Arduino Shields Connection Bridge
- bigger, faster, more awesome FPGA boards
- better SDR receivers
- the Extra Class license (I have about 9 months to study until the next local hamfest) (Sparks: I blame you!!)
