After much head scratching and lot of google'ing I finally got the OLED screen on the chipKIT IO Shield to turn on. Here's the proof:

Please join me in the most triumphant achievement. I think I deserve a cuppa and a biscuit(if I can find some).

Hopefully, I'll post a more in depth review on this great piece of kit in the next few 'bits' of time.

All the best

Pat

I've added the code here: http://www.element14.com/community/people/patkelly/blog/2012/03/26/max32-io-code--first-run

I'll try and keep my blog updated with as much information as possible as I continue to work with the Max32 and IO sheild. I'll add the code shortly. I've also got my hands on the network shield too butI'll leave that in the box until I'll mastered the IO.

    I agree, good first step.

Should I get some time, I might look at one of these for my UNO32.

Yes, I just now realized that you might be after that.  Maybe PatKelly can be encouraged to share any links, code examples, how-to, and such that he may have since it did seem to amount to a substantial hurdle.  I would really appreciate that since I have those same devices.

Yeah, I was thinking more about protocol, and I've since looked up the product info: it's a SPI OLED.  I dig how crisp those tiny little OLED displays look.
