My 2020 Achievements!

21 Jan 2021

I thought I would have a go at listing my 2020 achievements, some of which are due to Element14.

1) Still alive (major achievement).

2) Taught my grandson some bad habits (his parents did not seem to think this was as much fun as I did)..

3) Grew some potatoes (very tasty).

4) Make several mobile robots (not all of which appeared on Element14 - I'm too easily distracted).

My goals for 2021 are to do pretty much the same.

Well done! How do you grow potatoes?

    Ger,

I just wandered into a shop (DIY - you can do it) one day for no particular reason and saw bags of seed potatoes for not very much, so I bought one. They sat in the garage for several weeks while I did nothing much, One day I saw they were beginning to grow so after receiving some advice I put them into egg boxes (eat the eggs first) and sprayed them daily. After a bit they grew some more. At that point it got a bit serious and I had to (my wife wasn't convinced but it was absolutely necessary) spend a couple of hundred pounds making some raised beds. I then buried the potatoes in the ground and pretty much left them to it. I would water them occasionally although I was never sure if this was necessary. It took longer than the specified 90 days but after a bit I had loads of potatoes. So, come dinner time I would just pop down to the raised bed, dig up a plant and there you go, potatoes for the week! Not exactly cost effective but it was good fun.

    Fred,

When I retired I did not have any lofty goals or even any goals or aims at all, so I thought I would take six months without getting involved in anything. Nearly four years have passed now (I cannot believe the time has passed so quickly) and I seem to have slipped from a pretty much idyllic employment into an idyllic retirement overnight and there doesn't seem any need to change. Apart from possibly going to live by the sea - which is probably not going to happen.

    Adrian,

That's very kind of you to say so. I do like to make 'what I call' amusing comments and asides but I've been sure if they are in any way amusing as all my wife seems to do is groan whenever I make a quip, or six.
