I became interested in IoT stuff last year, but got side-tracked with a final research project at college. I graduated, but work is scarce in SW PA, so I divide my time between job applications, volunteer work with the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, flying drones, and tinkering. I recently assembled a Circuitmess phone for solder practice - the phone has an Espressif WROOM32, which I presume is good, at least as good as an ESP 8266. Anyways, that comment is str8 outta 2018. I configured four RPIs and a Banana Pi last week, and I have a small universe of sensors and I/O devices. I built a drone in May, a mcro with scant supporting documents, and then tried to configure it with an open source radio using BelHeli and Betaflght - and I am moving on to other stuff. I have a RPI B, B+, A, 4, some Arduinos, a couple of StereoPis, and lots of stuff I simply had to put on hold for months, and now, as I mentioned, I spend a few hours a week on projects. A drone, a phone, and now I want to make a Rube Goldberg machine. Once everything works, I will pull something nice off the line and build something that encapsulates what I learned from the networked devices, something relevant to my research into medical drone service integration. I come to Element14 for the chance to see what users in the community are making, and to find out about new electronics, environments, and research news.
