I have a young nephew that was born visually-impaired, for whom I am now designing a portable hand device that intergrates an OCR hand scanner with a mechanical braille interface. This should I hope greatly improve his quality of life as he goes through school and elswhere, allowing him to read printed text.I hope to have it done by Christmas, and will be updating this post regularly with notes and designs, so that anyone interested may collaborate.
