Howdy -
With the finalists announced for the Great Global Hackerspace Challenge, I thought I'd highlight a project I really dug that unfortunately didn't make the finals. The OpenLab by the Melbourne Hackerspace "down under" fills a much needed gap for electronics education:
In addition to its cool functionality, the professional design & documentation of the project is top-notch! You can tell OpenLab is not their first hardware project. In fact, when interviewed on the hackerspace radio station, Signal, the team said previous Arduino project for the Linux conference had given them confidence in their ability to design on a tight schedule.
I also really enjoyed following their very active element14 blog. Their Team moment of the week posts really exemplified what the Challenge was all about: coming together as a team to solve problems and build cool stuff for eduction!
Cheers,
Drew
