Just bought a new book - Programming the Raspberry Pi by Simon Monk
This is an excellent book going step by step through using Python to prgram the Raspberry Pi.
It includes details on two projects - Clock and the Raspi Robot.
Excellent reading for anyone wanting to get the most out of the Raspberry Pi.
I am planning to use the Raspberry Pi to produce a automatic test system for an instrument. One that would actuate a solenoid once every few seconds and monitor the output.
This will be used to peform life tests on swicthes and check battery life.
We plan to use the Custard Pi 1 - protection layer to allow us to easily connect to the external electronics without fear of damaging any of the pins on the Raspberry Pi.
This book is exactly what I was looking for to complete this project.
