Recommendation for robotic arm for camera?

In working with newer boards, I'm realizing that parts and part numbers are getting even smaller, while my eyesight is suffering from old age.  In working with the Artik 520 board, I had to dig out a USB microscope to determine the part number of a chip that was only slightly larger than a surface mount resistor.

 

My thinking is this: I need a robotic arm to hold the camera (or a similar camera).  It needs enough granularity in its movement that centering the camera view on such a chip is possible. Accuracy and ease of use is priority. Speed of movement is not.  Preference is for non-wireless control.  I'd also like to avoid the hefty price tag attached to some of the obviously capable industrial arms.  Kits are acceptable.

 

Any suggestions/recommendations?

    I use a set of magnifier lenses attached to a head mount.  It is a hobby product for about 20 USD and it allows me to flip them up when I just need my normal bi-focal lenses.

     

    I have also played around with a bore scope camera that provides illumination and good magnification for about 70 USD.
