Roland D50 Re-build
A short while ago I purchased a reasonably low priced vintage Roland D50 keyboard ( circa 1987). This keyboard was responsible for many of the famous sounds from this era ( ie Enya – Orinoco Flow) and I was fairly keen to own one day.
I did manage to track one unit down though, but there was a catch, the cheap price meant that the keyboard would be “dead on arrival” and would require much TLC to restore it.
Externally I was looking at fairly neglected item, generally battered around, an assortment of broken keys and not powering up at all. The unit must have been stored in a garage looking at the corrosion on the metalwork and the rat droppings rattling around inside it.
