The report, which is made by IDC’s semiconductor research team, indicates the smart systems will consume more than 12.5 billion pills of processor cores before the year of 2015, and the sales will be more than 100 billion US dollars. The smart system is composed of the programmable processor core, high level operating system and the network connecting device, which has a great contribution to the processor market.

According to the predication of IDC, the quantity of processor core in the smart system will be six times of the personal computer in the year of 2015. There will be more and more processor cores consumed by the smart system, and the scale will be 24.6 billion pills. The purpose of IDC’s survey is to reflect the real situation of the market. Smart system has become the in-word which can be heard everywhere, but the boundary is not clear. The smart meter, phone, television and grid have become the important driving force of the electronic component sales gradually.

The tale of smart system is related to the evolutionary process of the embedded technique. IDC maintains that their business is the market quantification with these elements, such as processor, operating system and connectivity. Apart from the programmable microprocessor, system single-chip and the high-level operating system, the embedded system has provided a key step to the smart system. The embedded system has the communication ability through the IP or users. In addition to the cell phone and personal computer, the shipment of other embedded systems will be 1.4 billion sets in 2010, and the shipment will increase to 3.3 billion in 2015. It is also predicated that that the shipment of embedded system will be six times of personal computer. The practitioners maintain that the function, ease and connectivity will spread to the other embedded systems, such as energy, industrial system, automobile, communication and so on. The related integrated circuit is MZ9310.
