SMD Component Box

13 Aug 2020

Today when I went to the supermarket to procure weekly grocery items. One small medicine box grabbed my attention.

I was looking for an SMD component box for quite sometime. Either they are too expensive or not available due to shipment restrictions due to global pandamic.

When I saw the medicine box I was pretty sure that this was the item I was looking for. I bought 2 containers for $3 each. I bought some stickers to label the partitions.

One box dedicated to all my 1206 capacitors and one for all the 1206 resistors.

Here how it looks:

I also bought another container for ICs and other components. It was a mess before. I still didn't completely arrange everything in boxes. There are still packages flying around my cupboard.

Capacitors and Resistors are not arranged in any order of their values. So it will be slightly difficult for me to find the values. But still pretty happy to see things getting organized image

You have many components! I do not have many components but those I have I tend to keep mostly in a random pile on my desk. I usually remember whereabouts on my desk I put them when I first get them but…

These look like a great way to store the parts. I have also used the multi compartment boxes that craft stores sell for keeping beads separate that are used in making bead jewelry. https://www.michaels…

A good find.! Multicompartment storage boxes usually seem expensive for what they are. If ever I see any at a good price, I always buy them, even if I don't need any at that time! Over the years I've built…

I have a somewhat bulky but airtight and cheap way of storing these components.

    Cork Bottles.

You buy a 100 from amazon for 10 dollars or 20, and then you can add labels on them.

    Cork is relatively more airtight.

You can then put them in the box and label the lid as well with the values.

Over the years I've built up quite a collection of varying shapes and sizes - and all cheap! A couple of them are still empty!

You have many components! I do not have many components but those I have I tend to keep mostly  in a random pile on my desk. I usually remember whereabouts on my desk I put them when I first get them but if they get moved (mostly when looking for other components) then I may not find them for several weeks or even months. Or I just buy some more. I have no problem with storing my SMD components - I do not have any!
