SnowBot #1 : Version 1

Well, it had to happen eventually, it has snowed where I live. Some years it doesn't snow at all, but this year, it snowed this morning so I'm making the most of it. Time to try out SnowBot.

Sadly, this first attempt resulted in only a small advance of a few centimetres before the wheels started to slip. I thought it might get further due to the relatively wide tyres and quite heavy battery but it was not to be. Shame.

Looks like I will need some snow tyres for this mobile robot for it to be able to go anywhere snow like. Still, more snow is predicted for this evening so there's a small chance I might be able to have another go tomorrow morning - after I have made some snow wheels and tyres, before all the snow melts.

Nice try. You might have better luck with a tracked vehicle, or a combination of front ski and back track (like a snowmobile). Good luck and have fun!

Gene, I am currently trying to 3D print some wheels with studs but I think the snow may disappear before I get the new wheels sorted. Still, the new wheels should work on grass as well. Dubbie
