Sorry for my absence

Hi everyone,

 

I know I don't have to but I feel I should explain why I have been absent from the community for the past couple months. My wife Claudia had gone in for major surgery 2 months ago so being stupid crazy with work and looking after her during the recovery has been hard. Chrystal and my son Nicholas have been a great help but its been hard on us all. My work has been very stressful as well, very busy, I've been working 12-14 hours a day. Everything started to get to normal then last Monday I ended out going in for emergency surgery for appendicitis, the pain started Sunday morning and I had surgery Monday afternoon. So now it is my wife's turn to look after me, but I'm doing good and will be back to work on Tuesday.

 

My recent projects I have been up to have been a coffee table, new computer, electric violin, electric guitar, and a desk. I missed out on the photo contest but I have attached the photo below (My parrot looking into the camera at the perfect time NO PHOTOSHOP)

  • I like the table ..... a lot. Would it be possible to slice it into two thinner slabs and get matching tables?

    Great parrot picture. I find parrots to be extremely interesting birds. Great flocks of them used to hang out in my back yard.

    My wife and work seem to be in similar predicaments, so I understand the stress involved.

    The top for the coffee table could have been cut (a lot of work as it is 41" in diametre) and solid walnut. I am currently coating it with waterproof resin and plan on putting thick glass on top with a 1/4" gap between glass and top. Then run a water pump and line to go around the perimeter under the glass as to make a waterfall in the centre. I will be making a granite basin under to catch the water. I want to integrate an Arduino to hook up led lights as well.

     

    Our parrot is an African Grey named Red. We've had him over 4 years now, incredible member of the family. (He's not considered a pet, he is our 3rd child.)

    That table is going to be over the top.

    Parrots have amazing intelligence and complex personalities and they are great communicators. Now if only they were interested in electronics...
