It is my estimate that way less than 25% of the adult population of the world have disciplined their minds to solve a problem like the one I solved.

  Volume of the Cylinder   =   (pi) (r^2) (h)   =   (pi) ((r(1+0.25))^2) (h(1-%))

                                                          1       =   (1.25^2) (1-%)

                                                      0.64      =  1 - %

                                                        %       =  1 - 0.64

                                                        %       =  0.36  ,  final answer

If we mean 1+0.25 by "diameter of the can is increased by 25%"

then 1 - % is the meaning of "height of the can is decreased by what percent"

any other interpretation would "be highly illogical"(-Spock).

I watched the 2012 version of Wolverines on DVD this evening.  I think our Govt and Corp Leaders had better start doing much more to protect the American way of life.  Just sayin'.

    Hi Bill,

    Sad tale but true.

    From my perspective, few people other than engineers have any chance of surviving in the future without significant government assistance.

    Face it, most people cannot even solve the problem of too many people and too few resources.  There solution?  Find ways to help people have more kids, increase fertility rates and in the same breadth, condem technology for being too dangerous.  Plus they turn corn into fuel.

    You have to love the world of self delusion.

    Just my opinion,

    DAB
